Celebrities Who Dissed Their Exes (PHOTOS)

In 2009, Mariah Carey wasn't shy about calling her ex-husband and record executive Tommy Mottola "controlling," and claimed he "mentally and emotionally" abused her during their four-year-marriage, which she called a "private hell."

Four years later, Mottola is speaking out in his new memoir "Hitmaker," and says that he might have been demanding, but he's the reason for her worldwide success. "If it seemed like I was controlling, I apologize. Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success," he writes in the book.

We're sure Mariah wouldn't be too happy to learn her ex believes he's the reason she's become a legend in the music industry, but it's not as if he's the first to diss a former paramour.

He cast a Spears look-alike in his video for "Cry Me a River," and sang "I already know/ I found out from him/Now there's just no chance/ For you and me, there'll never be" and later, "Your bridges were burned and now it's your turn/To cry, cry me a river." The song didn't help discredit rumors that pop's golden couple split because Britney cheated with backup dancer and choreographer Wade Robson.

  After Jennifer Lopez announced she was splitting from Marc Anthony, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/02/jennifer-lopez-on-marc-anthony-divorce_n_915678.html#s311091&title=Ojani_Noa">she revealed to Vanity Fair that he didn't treat her very well: </a> "To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself- if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me," she told the magazine.

James revealed that his pick was Von D, telling Stern, "That one's an easy no-brainer. 100 percent! She's a vixen, man. I love her." Later, he <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-57337755-10391698/jesse-james-disses-sandra-bullock-on-american-chopper/">dissed Bullock again when he referred</a> to his ex as "some Hollywood actress."

• John Mayer dissed Jennifer Aniston

  John Mayer totally dissed Jennifer Aniston when he <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/10/john-mayer-jessica-simpso_n_456566.html">responded to rumors that she dumped him because he was tweeting too much. </a> "That wasn't it, but that was a big difference," he told Playboy in 2010. "The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998."

• Madonna dissed Guy Ritchie
