How many bedrooms do you need? It?s one of the first questions to ask when you think about choosing a floor plan for a new home, and it may seem that it has an obvious answer? count up the number of people in the household and you?re set.
It?s not always that simple.
Consider the Greenwood floorplan, a classic family home that comes in both three and four bedroom versions.
A family with parents and three children might immediately consider the four bedroom version. However, comparison of the two floorplans shows that the three bedroom choice has a larger living room, kitchen, and dining room. A family that entertains a lot and has a couple of active little boys who use their bedrooms mostly for sleeping might be better off letting the little guys share a bedroom and opting for the added entertaining space.
A family with two kids might automatically go for the three bedroom option. However, the four bedroom plan has a built-in home theater area. A family with teens might value the extra room for a quiet study ? and the home theater area could make their home the one where the kids hang out.
Here are some questions to ask yourself before you go for the obvious choice on the number of bedrooms:
- Are you expecting the number of family members to change? More babies on the horizon perhaps, or kids getting ready to go to college?
- Would you value an extra bedroom for an office, sewing room, or playroom?
- Would sharing a bedroom give you options that could be better for your family?
- Would you prefer more rooms or fewer, larger rooms?
This is a question that is worth a family council meeting and some serious thought. United-Bilt Homes has floor plans from one to four bedrooms, so you?re sure to find a plan that suits your need. Browse our beautiful floor plans now.
